Mark Elliott is a longtime insurance professional and respected community leader with more than four decades of experience in the industry. He earned his degree in Insurance from Ferris State University in 1979 and began his career with Aetna Insurance Company, working as a commercial lines underwriter in the Detroit and Grand Rapids areas for three years.
In October 1982, Mark joined Elliott Insurance Group, where he built a successful career centered on client service, leadership, and agency growth. In April 1991, he earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation, reflecting his commitment to professional excellence and continued education in the field. After nearly 38 years, he proudly transitioned ownership of the agency to his daughter and son-in-law in January 2020, continuing a strong family legacy in the business. Although technically retired, Mark remains actively involved with the agency on a part-time basis, serving as a consultant and continuing to share his experience and insight.

Mark’s professional contributions extend beyond his agency. He served as President of the Michigan Independent Insurance Agents association, supporting the development and success of independent agents throughout the state.
His commitment to community service is equally notable. Mark has been a member of the East Tawas Park Board since 1986 and currently serves as Chairman. He served for 10 years as a director on the board of a community bank, contributing his leadership and financial expertise. He has also been actively involved with the Tawas Area Lions Club, Tawas Area Education Foundation, Tawas Area Chamber of Commerce, St. Joseph Hospital Board and Foundation Board, and the Tawas Area Little League Board.
Mark’s life has been shaped not only by professional dedication but also by a deep commitment to family. He and his wife, Susan, have been married for 45 years and together raised their two daughters. Today, Jennifer owns and operates Elliott Insurance Group, and Maureen is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®). Mark is also a proud grandfather to Vivian and Jacob.
Mark loves homemade popcorn, shopping on Christmas Eve, and cheering on the Tigers.
